New Year's Day Cleanup a Success!

Over 90 Coos Bay Surfriders and community members celebrated on New Year's Day by cleaning up our beaches from Horsfall Beach all the way down to Cape Arago's South Cove.

New Year's Day was sunny and warm . . . a great day to clean up our beaches, and a great way to start the new year!  Participants cleaned up trash and tsunami debris at Horsfall, Bastendorff, and Lighthouse beaches, as well as Cape Arago's North Cove and South Cove beaches.  We removed two truckloads from Bastendorff, and about 100 square feet of garbage from Horsfall.  Volunteers gathered and removed around 1.5 tons of trash from the Cape Arago area alone, including tsunami debris and a lot of micro-plastics.
