Kids to get schooled on water quality

Surfrider Foundation's south coast blue water task force program is getting ready to launch seasonal beach monitoring along popular recreational beaches on Oregon's south coast and this year we're expanding! In years past we've partnered with the students from Pacific High School, but this year we're starting a peer to peer program, bringing middle school students from Driftwood Elementary into the mix. This Thursday and Friday, along with our partners from the Port Orford Ocean Resource Team, we'll be setting up the lab and introducing the kids to the program through a series of 8 programs to 4 different classes. We're excited to bring the peer to peer learning element into the program this year to get more kids involved and make better connections between the Port Orford Stewardship Area, Redfish Rocks Marine Reserve and nearshore water quality. Wanna volunteer, get more involved or just learn more, contact oregon@surfrider.org!
