The Bandon High School QUAD Club has been busy working on a project to reduce single use styrofoam lunch containers in their cafeteria called "Loam Not Foam". The goal is to replace the styrofoam with compostable containers that can be turned back into soil and ultimately be used the school's native garden project!
So far they've raiser over $100 dollars selling cider on those cold winter days and used that money to purchase 500 of these compostable containers. They've created posters informing the rest of the student body on the reasons for choosing the more environmentally friendly option and their containers are flying off the lunch counter.
Hats off to these awesome activists making a difference in their school! The Coos Bay Chapter recently approved providing matching funds up to $500 to the QUAD Club to support this and future projects. Stay tuned for more updates on this rad project.
