Title: Introduction to Ocean Friendly Gardening
When: Thursday, September 5, 2013, 5:45 pm
Where: Sharkbites Cafe (theater, not sure if the locals have another name more familiar for this room)
Event Description: Come learn how to create a beautiful landscape in your backyard that benefits our oceans and beaches while improving your home! The Coos Bay Chapter of Surfrider Foundation will be joining up with Ocean Bay landscaping to give you an introduction to ocean friendly gardening and the many benefits it can bring from home improvement, water management and pollution control to local wildlife. From backyard habitats to downspout disconnects, green driveways and rain gardens, designing and landscaping your yard to be ocean friendly can begin simply on a small budget with little to no ongoing maintenance required. As the rains and water of the winter are to come, this is a great time of year to begin planning your garden for fall planting. Join Surfrider Foundation's Oregon Field Manager Charlie Plybon and local landscaper/surfer Larz Swenson from Ocean Bay Landscaping for this great introduction to help you get on your way to building an Ocean Friendly Garden in your yard.
