Stand UP! For the Bay is coming up - Saturday, September 26th! Join us for a community paddle event and celebration of Coos Bay and our coastal waters. Other activities include educational activities, a bayfront cleanup, live music, a paddle board jousting event, and luau.
Pre-registration cost is $10 for adults and free for children under 12. Event-day registration will be $12. Cost includes the paddle event fee, food, paddle joust, and festivities. T-shirts this year will be sold separately. With your regristration fee you are helping Coos Bay Surfrider's continued monitoring of Coos Bay waters via our Blue Water Task Force.
Program Events
Registration (starts at 8 am)
Meet at the Coos Bay Boardwalk, and find the Surfrider registration table to check in. Coffee will be provided, and route details will be discussed.
The Paddle (9 am to 11 am):
Kayaks, Canoes, SUPs and paddle boards are all welcome to participate. The paddle route is appropriate for all skill leveand starts at 9 am. Life Jackets required. Rentals and information can be found at Waxer’s Surf Shop.
Bay Cleanup (9 am to 11 am)
If you don’t feel like paddling, come and help us clean up the bay! We will be walking along the bay, and cleaning as we go.
Live Music, and Luau (starts at 11 am):
Live music and a luau on the boardwalk will begin at 11 am. After the paddle, come and enjoy some delicious food and a bar set up by Sharkbites Cafe.
Educational Activities (start at 8:30 am):
This year we are teaming up with South Slough Estuarine Research Reserve, Wild and Scenic Rivers (from Brookings, OR), and Coast Range Forest Watch, who will be providing kids activities and estuary education for the event! All are welcome!
Paddle Joust (12 noon)
Come and test your medieval skills on a paddle board! Our current champion is Craig Longobardi. Come and challenge our champion!
