Nicole Leep was awarded one of the Coos Bay Surfrider Honorable Mention Scholarships for 2020.
Our scholarships support students looking to enter or continue an educational pathway with emphasis in the natural or environmental sciences. Usually, when applicants don’t fit the natural/environmental science criterion, we don’t consider awarding them a CoosBay Surfrider scholarship. However, in these challenging times of COVID, we found Nicole Leep to be worthy of an “Honorable Mention” Scholarship. More than a stellar student, Nicole has demonstrated her passion for the sciences, dedication in her studies and actions, with a positive and adapting personality.
Nikki writes: I graduated from Myrtle Point high school as the salutatorian with a GPA of 3.88. I played 3 sports volleyball, basketball and softball. I took college classes for 2 years in high school. I love going hunting and camping.
Nikki worked while in high school, including at a veterinarian’s office. She is attending Southwestern Oregon Community College, on a path to become an Animal Science Veterinarian.
